Transfer hours

Recommended Posts

Before I registered, where was the SOP located? I could only access the SOP under downloads after being accepted and then being able to login because it seems you have to login in order to have access to the SOP.

However in your SOP under Transfer Hours you state that only 200 hours is the max amount of hours you will accept from VATSIM, or 25% out of 200 hours max from another VA will be accepted, but no one can combine a transfer of hours from both VATSIM hours and former VA hours. So how is it that the pilot roster shows pilots that have thousands of hours already?

We accepted total hours if you came over from the other Delta Virtual Airlines. Basically, we extended everything except your logbook. Hope it makes sense. If you believe your hours are not what you think they should be, let me know.

You did not answer my first question.

On top of that, since this VA's SOP only became available to me after I joined, and within that had I known that there was going to be a cap of 200 hours from VATSIM, I would have never joined this spin-off and here is why: Many VA pilots that have thousands of hours build up most, or all, of that time by flying long legs with no weather of any kind (CAVOK and no winds) and by not flying online so all they have to do is take off, turn on AP at 400' agl along with LNAV and VNAV engaged, and then check their flight after 12 hours to see how much longer it is until they have to descend. That is fine as that is their prerogative.

When I joined deltavirtual, I was able to read the SOP before joining. They accepted all VATSIM hours and former VA hours if I remember correctly.

Thank you for the suggestion. We will take your advice and post the SOP on the main page. The hours listed in your profile is 811. Your vatsim statistics show just a little more than that, and your profile that you sent us to link your hours says 811.09. Am I missing something here?

Thank you for the suggestion. We will take your advice and post the SOP on the main page. Would you like me to delete your account for you?

I would stay on board if you had 2 categories of pilots: VATSIM pilots and offline pilots. If you do not, you will have an unequal playing field like many other VAs regarding flight hours which is tied to seniority and true commitment to the VA.

There is another VA that has been around for a very long time and they respect VATSIM time, and as such they will accept all of my and other VA pilot's VATSIM hours because that shows commitment. I doubt if this VA will ever distinguish VATSIM hours from offline hours. Just about anyone can build hours quickly by flying offline which puts those of us that fly on VATSIM at a very unfair disadvantage - seniority, etc.

Also the way you guys tried to have people migrate over from deltavirtual by making it look like a new iteration of the same VA by putting messages in PIREPs left a bad taste in my mouth personally, and not telling those of us that signed up here had no clue about putting caps on transfer hours made the taste even more sour.

So based on the above, please delete my account.

Thank you for your suggestions. We will be discussing at our next staff meeting looking at VATSIM transfer hours differently. We are also working to get the SOP in a different and more accessible location on our site.

I would like to point out however, that our transfer policy is currently exactly the same as deltavirtual.org, which you belong to. We offered to transfer all of your hours from that VA 100% to ours, so in effect, you would be no worse off or better by switching over to here. You'd have the same rank, hours, etc... So while I understand your comments about VATSIM hours, it seems that you may have wanted to make this a bigger issue than it is.

Finally as to our comments in PIREPS, this past weekend deltavirtual.org went dark for over 12 hours. No website, No SmartCARS, nothing. We had no idea as to why, and were unable to get any response from our CEO and Founder. As such we wanted to make sure that the pilots had an avenue to get to a system that was going to be reliable and ACCESSIBLE. When the site did come back up we felt that letting people know via the pirep system was the quickest way. Our intentions was to prevent another frustrating outage of the entire site and ACARS system.

If you worked for a company where your boss never responded to you, where the owner never shows up, and all of your requests for assistance go unanswered would you stay? If one day you show up for work and the doors are locked and no one is answering the phone would you figure they went out of business? Well, the staff decided that we did NOT want that to happen, so we put in countless hours to get this new site, new system, and new ACARS setup to keep the spirit of the VA alive for our pilots. YOU are our family and we wanted to take care of the team. That was our prime intention, nothing more, nothing less.

I hope you reconsider your decision and we see you in the skies here at Delta Virtual. Thanks.

By they way, the staff has voted and it has been agreed that 100% of Vatsim hours will now be accepted. I want to thank you Brandon for pointing out some issues that we could improve on. That’s what we are here for.

Mark,

Thank you for the VATSIM hours comment here!

Jason,

Thank you for allowing me to explain the situation. We still have a few kinks to work out. At the very least, know that you have a staff looking out for you, and one that will face every question or concern you have head on. As of a few minutes ago, we just added smartCARS as another option to log your flights along with the Sky Club app.
